
Working House Fire
On Thursday, April 24th at 1629 Hrs., the Seaford Fire Department was activated for a house fire at the intersection of Seamans Neck Rd and Mill Rd. At the same time, the Wantagh Fire Department was receiving reports of a house fire at Seamans Neck Rd and Jerusalem Avenue (the borderline of both districts).
Multiple units from both Departments arrived simultaneously and reported a heavily involved, 2 story private dwelling. Engine 682 led by Captain Joe Bongiovi began an aggressive interior attack while Wantagh Engine 691 stretched a second line to assist.
Ultimately, 4 hand lines were utilized to extinguish the fire and protect the next door neighbors home.
Interior operations were under the command of 2nd Asst Chief Peter Lochner and Command was handled by 1st Asst Chief Scott Diehl.
Mutual aid was provided by the Wantagh, Massapequa, and North Massapequa Fire Departments. Massapequa EMS, Bellmore and Bethpage stood by in our quarters.
