
Wires Down With Exposure Issues
On Sunday, July 2nd at 0633 Hrs, the Seaford Fire Department was alerted for a transformer fire in the area of Merrick Rd and Seamans Neck Rd. 6801 (Chief Tom Cottone) and 6802 (Chief Brian Beehler) responded. 6801 reported a primary line down and arcing and he requested PSE&G respond. Seaford Engine 681, Ladder 683 and ambulance 685 responded. While awaiting the arrival of the electric company, the underground gas main became involved creating an exposure issue with a private dwelling as well as a one story commercial building. 6801 requested on engine from the Wantagh FD (693) as crews began evacuating near by homes. Eventually the electric and gas was shut down in the area. The last units cleared the area at 0924 Hrs.
