SFD Assists Wounded Veterans
On Tuesday, July 12th members of the Seaford FD assisted the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors group. Seaford FF Greg Spina (a former Long Beach FD FF) has been associated for many years with the LB Waterfront Warriors who work to give wounded veterans and their families a great NY experience. Lt. Scott Diehl, Lt/Paramedic. PJ Lochner, FF/EMT Tyler Gerhard and FF/EMT Brian Winter escorted a veteran and his family throughout the day.
The group of wounded veterans and their families were picked up by the Seaford members as well as members from the Baldwin FD, Pt. Lookout FD, Woodmere FD, NYPD, DEA, CIA, Secret Service, DHS, NYS Troopers, Suffolk County Sheriffs and the FDNY. The group went to a indoor waterpark in NJ to learn how to surf. They then traveled via PD escort to Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial. The day concluded with a luncheon at the quarters of FDNY Rescue 1.
Thank you FF Spina and the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors for asking the Seaford FD to assist in this great event for our nations wounded veterans!
