Car vs Building

On Thursday, August 25th we were alerted for a car into a building MVA at Sunrise Hwy, east of the 135.  Chief of Department Thomas deHaan (6800) was on the scene within one minute.  A BMW had struck the wall between two stores at the Sunrise Prominade with one person injured.  Heavy Rescue 687 under the command of Lt. Scott Diehl responded with ALS and BLS providers on board.  The crew treated the injured driver.  The crew also had to force the front door to a nail salon that became stuck closed due to the impact.  Members also secured the utilities.  Due to the damage of the crash Chief deHaan requested the Massapequa FD Tactical Rescue Team (TRT) and the Bethpage FD TRT to check on the structural stability of the building.  The Town of Hempstead Building Department also responded.
