Annual Sixth Battalion Parade & Drill
On Saturday, August 28th we will be hosting the Annual Sixth Battalion Parade & Drill.
This once every ten-year event will be bringing our neighboring fire departments and guests into town for the parade and block party. Being that 2021 is the 20th anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, we will be honoring the 5 members from the battalion who lost their lives that day.
The old-fashioned drill will take place at 10 am at the Four Towns Training Center on Merrick Rd in Merrick. The parade will kick off at 6 pm sharp from the Seaford LIRR parking lot at Jackson Ave and Brooklyn Ave. It will head east on Brooklyn to Washington Ave and then South on Washington to Merrick Rd. West on Merrick Rd to Southard Ave and then North to the firehouse.
There will be at least 10 fire departments and bands participating along with antique fire trucks and a number of invited elected officials. Retired Congressman Peter King will be recognized at the front of the parade for all of his years of dedicated service to our Country and his hometown of Seaford.
Following the parade, there will be a block party at the Seaford Fire Department with refreshments, food trucks, bounce houses for the kids, and a mechanical bull ride. The bull ride will be a fundraiser for the SHS 911 Committee.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a great night. There will be street closures in and around the parade route and firehouse so please plan accordingly.
